This is the 42" embossed version and not the more common 48" version. Flyingausa, were the 42" versions meant to be wall mounted?

Moderator can you move this to the "best sign and value it" post--I messed up

I'm no authority on anything, just know enough to get myself in trouble. Here's a prime example never seen a 42" one. Everyone I've ever seen always says Service, but I be willing to bet somewhere there's one that has gasoline on it (just a guess).Whats you got hid behind this sign?? thanks for posting it and teaching me something. Paul, I am with you, I have never seen a 42" button sign like this. Is it 42" round or 42" wing tip to wing tip. Great sign

Hey guys thanks for the info. The sign is 42" in diameter. There are several variations--one of the more interesting ones was on Ebay awhile back. It was an embossed sign with no lettering, just the flying A. Was a late model version but the only one I've seen.
Paul, the other 2 signs are 42" Texaco signs. I'd sell one if anyone is interested.

Are you planning to sell the Flying A 42" also. I would be interested. I have not seen the one with just the Flying A on it. I have seen the Service,Heating oil, and Gasoline. All in the 48".

Yeah - Craig doesn't have nearly enough Flying A stuff! (right Craig!) LOL

No foolin' - I be droolin' (my apologies to Hubba for stealing his bit). Great sign. Those of us here in the Midwest don't get to see this kind of collectable because none of it exists here unless it's already in a collection!

My understanding is that Flying A was an East Coast and a West Coast brand. I've never seen a single piece of Flying A memorabilia here in Michigan that wasn't already in someone's personal collection or for sale at a Gas Bash. Please enlighten me if I am wrong.

Later . . .

East coast was Tydol and Tydol Flying A and west coast was Flying A.
Jim, I have a moto.

Sorry Craig its my best sign--can't sell it yet. It came out of a Getty distributor's warehouse in Connecticut. Thus, it has East coast origins.
