If you had to pick your favorite/best can from your stuff which one would it be? Hopefully we can get a bunch of photos of some top end cans on this thread. It's mid winter, everybody take some time and post a pic, it's never been easier on oldgas.
I'll start, an early Marathon VEP can that you don't see very often in this condition.
By
davericheyNot the best pic, but it's too cold(whiner) to go out to the shop and snap another. Not a primo can, but the only one I've seen in years here in MS.
Without a doubt my favorite..
These are Not My Best or Most Valuable Cans in My Collection, But probably my Favorites just Because of the Cool Race Car Graphics. Come on Can Collectors I know there are alot of you out there in Oldgas Land lets see some Cans. Great Idea for a Showcase Topic.

Thanks for Sharing Pictures of your Cans Wes and Bowserguy!!
This is probably my favorite can, because it is the brand I try to collect the most. I included the pyro label bottle (same brand) which I got from another local collector, after a lot of begging.Norm.
Savinsam..... I've never noticed, the car in the background.....
I guess that it has something to do with the short skirt....
I assume the graphics used on this can was intended to catch the eye of race car enthusiasts only! It is definitely an eye catcher. Too bad my photo isn't as clear as the actual can. Can is new never opened. I've never seen another like it. Sam
Here is one of our better quarts, and with out a doubt our favorite for obvious reasons. In aggressively collecting Old Dutch and quart cans for 20 years, we have seen only two others of this quart and both were quite rough.
Lonnie & Aaron Hop
^^^^ Thanks for giving members an opportunity to see another rare can on this thread.
we appreciate you sharing the picture!!! just love to see the rare cans,,,, tgxs alan
Beautiful can Olddutch. I love the cans that advertise Pennsylvania oil..........thanks for posting up a pic.

Randy
I have greatly enjoyed this thread, I have seen some great pieces that I never knew existed.
Here are a couple group shots of the quarts I have in my bedroom stacked on the dresser, floor, and book shelf. The group of early Dixie quarts is one of my favorite mini-collections within my quart collection. There are a couple more that I know I need yet, maybe someday...
Aaron Hop
Here is a group shot of a pyramid of cans on the floor in my living room along the stairs. When my shelves got full I had to get creative and just started stacking them up. Its nice to be able to look at some cans while watching TV, too.
Take note of the close up shot of the Hudson quarts, I recently bought the Transport Motor Oil from Don "5 quart" Raleigh and is the only one I have ever seen, even though its rough it makes a neat set.
Aaron
Here is the last group of photos for now, these quarts are on a shelf in my kitchen and are some of my favorites. If you havent figured it out yet, I am still a bachelor as my collection spills all over the house.
Aaron Hop
Definately not my best can as far as value or condition but still my favorite. It says "Eliminates Trouble Demons" and you can see a bunch of little devils jumping out of the car.
Want to thank Aaron for confirming that I'm not the only person with oil cans in thier kitchen. This hutch is built into the house and was probably ment for something besides this.

Just Picked up this Indian Motorcycle Quart can this past weekend, it is the Last Indian Motorcycle Quart Can I needed!
Here are all the Indian Motorcycle Quarts together. I am still trying to figure out if the C.A.M. can is from the Indian Motorcycle Co. because on the side of the can at the Bottom it Says "INDIAN Springfield, Mass." which is where Indian Motorcycle is also from not sure if there was an Indian Refining Company located there also. Does anybody in Oldgas Land know anything about this???
I have few best cans like a lot of guys on here but I couldn't decide which ones to put on here, so here are a few of them,,a picture of 15 doesn't take up anymore room on this site than one..

Wes: My father served a Corvette during WWII based out of Halifax. Neat can.
Very cool Alex . Those were brave guys
Want to thank Aaron for confirming that I'm not the only person with oil cans in thier kitchen. This hutch is built into the house and was probably ment for something besides this.
BUT it sure looks cool being used for this lol
This is a good thread to go with the globe and gas pump threads going on. I noticed the picture is gone from my post in 2009. I went through my pictures and only had five cans at the time of the post. It was probably the Silver Shell. That was the first can I bought. Before that I only bought gas pumps but now I have more than just gas pumps and must have more than 200 cans all over the garage now. It would be hard to pick one favorite one but the Polar is one of the coolest I have.
Great post to revive! There are still some great pics showing up.
Here are my 2 favorite oil cans in my collection.
A early 5 gallon Trulite from True's oil co., that also did Rainbow gas here in the Spokane area, and my unformed PENN ACE quart can!
A pyramid of my favorite oil cans.
John,
Some nice cans in there! But I love that black lettered Texaco. Not an easy one to come by!
This is my two-fer. My favorite can and matching sign..Matt, yes things have sure changed in your can collection!!
Maybe we can talk some of the past members who's pictures have gone away to re-post them.
Only one I've ever seen and I had to have it! Definitely my favorite can!
Really enjoyed looking back at all the cans.
Here is one of my favorites.

Still my baby!
Recycled threads before I was a member....I can handle that!!!
My favorite
Cool resurrection of an old thread.
I really don't have a favorite can just cans the Conoco was a cool one to find at a flea/antique market awhile back I actually passed it up for a couple of months because it wasn't the usual quart can I collected
,
I finally decided to buy it because it was marked 20% off I'm glad I decided to go for it I won't pass another I know that much, lol..
More
Last one....
These are a couple of my favorite cans other than Gilmore. The Champion and the Evinrude are full. I sent the matching Champion 2 gallon can to 2 gallon Luke. It's an Oregon can.

These are a couple of my favorite cans other than Gilmore. The Champion and the Evinrude are full. I sent the matching Champion 2 gallon can to 2 gallon Luke. It's an Oregon can.
Being a Mercury outboard mechanic I am kind of partial to my quicksilver cans but I love that Evinrude can
UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE A GREAT CAN COLLECTION BUT I DO HAVE A COOL TRANS8 CAN FROM THE LUSCON'S
Probably the best I have at the moment.
Dan, that can is awesome!!
lots of cool cans keep them coming.
Having trouble posting an image.
Here is a rare Gilmore can dated 1915.
This is tops in my can collection.
Unfortunately, I don't think its 1915. Likely late 20s, thru the 30s.
It has "Continental Can Co Tripletite 1915". I assumed the 1915 was a date, but maybe it represents something else.
Luke I think your date estimate is correct, I found another code at the bottom of the can that says "C C CO 11-3", which I would assume dates it to 1930.
Maurice wanted me to post this for his favorite can.
And this is mine we have different versions of this Tulsa can.
These Sunset Oil Co. cans are some of my favorites....
I like my nurses. Cheers, Don.
One of my favorites -
Super stuff men, petro collecting is definitely alive and well. Any Cities Service Blue Club qts out there?
It is rough but here you go. The Blue Club qts are on the rare side.
Andy,
Those are amazing cans 100% top notch!
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Bob
Wow Andy! I don't collect oil cans, but if I did.........we have the same taste. Those cans have some killer graphics. Nice!!!
Minnesota quarts are so graphic its hard to pick the best one!
OMG Andy! Those are beauty cans!
Thanks Matt. I have one but a lighter blue color than yours.
I would have to say this is likely the best piece / set I currently have. An early "Gargoyle" Mobiloil wooden crate with 2 - 5 gallon cans. The 2 cans are not identical, but are very close.
Here is another can I recently acquired. A "Red Indian" Aviation oil can. Has a little wear, but overall still pretty good.
Super stuff men, petro collecting is definitely alive and well. Any Cities Service Blue Club qts out there?
