Wow!!! Outstanding job.
Did you secure the globes to the shelf?
Great attention to detail, especially the tin ceiling and the globe rail. The Flying A station I worked at as a kid had a rusty "well worn" tin ceiling. I hope to add a faux tin ceiling to my 80+ year old kitchen.
Wonderful! The art-deco shelf and tin ceiling really bring it back into the good old days. You've got me dreaming about a future building at my place.
Very nice! looks like a lot of thought was put in. nice detail on the ceiling and shelf.
Looks great. I also like the art-deco shelf & tin ceiling. I also like the mirage on the wall that is sweet!!!!
Like the building!! I have to ask did the 2x4's for the shelf screw to the side nefore drywall or is it screwed to the front? I know the glass body globes are heavy and at 20lbs apiece it doesn't take long for weight to add up. Where did you get the metal for the front of the shelf? I love the look of it!
Wow!! Is that a floor to ceiling black and white photo? If it is where did you find it?
Thanks
Thanks for the comments.
The globes are secure.
The shelf was built into the wall studs before the dywall it is very stong.
The metal front on the shelf, I built it. Started with 20 Ga. flat sheet, Broke into a C-channel, then it was run through the bead roller for the three lines, then I used a shrinker and stretcher to make the curved ends. Finally the paint.
The ceiling is actually wall paper, with crown moulding and then I masked it all off and sprayed Rustoleum Aluminum on it for the tin look. Everyone that walks into the room thinks it is a tin ceiling. But way more affordable.
And the mural on the wall is an ebay find, had to trim all the edges and put it up in two sections. Looking through the door gives it a shadow box effect and almost looks like a real station off in the distance.
We just poured a new slab yesterday for the gas pump island.
There's some real talent and ingenuous ideas at work. Looking forward to seeing the whole package completed.
Wow!! Is that a floor to ceiling black and white photo? If it is where did you find it?
Its actually a BUNCH of different pics, put together, to make that one. Its SUPER COOL, but its not a real pic. The guys on the Model T forum, are a bunch of "Super Slueths".
Check this out....http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/87756.html

Yep, I knew it was a marriage of pictures put together. But I still think it makes a cool wall

Very cool, one of the best and I've seen a few.
I love the shelf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike
Is the front of the shelf all one piece? Are there any seams?
The shelf front is built in 3 pcs. approx. 10ft long each.
Here is a wood display case that I recently finished for a can display. I finished the wood smooth and painted with Base/Clear.
Can you post more photos of the wood display case? I want to do the same. Did you photograph it while you were building it?
Mike

That case is an old display case. It is a combination of solid oak and a oak veneer. I had to strip several layers of paint off and smooth out the wood then primed and filled any pits. This is the only pics I have of it before.
Any more of the inside of the building?
"CRAZY BOUT A MERCURY" OUTSTANDING JOB!
We are looking for the correct cabinet for the cash register. If know of one for sale please let me know.
Tell us more about the cash register will ya'???? BTW I have a candy machine exactly like that one you have there. Can we get a detail shot of that too?
I don't know much about the cash register. Its a National, polished brass and according to the serial numbers was made in 1923. It had an electric motor to run the receipt printer which is no longer hooked up. But the cash drawer and all the buttons still work as long as you follow the correct sequence. It is setting on an old music stand but it is not quite big enough and a little wobly. So we are looking for a correct National cabinet.
Here is a better shot of the peanut machine. Still need to get the lock open so we can clean it up and get it loaded up to see if it works.
your really coming along with the station!!!love the cash register and peanut machine!!! txs for the update JEREMEY..... KEEP US UPDATED..TXS ALAN
Anyone ever notice that Condom/Kotex machines always work & soda/candy machines never work when ya buy them used ! LOL
Real cozy and I like the variety.
Very cool display Jeremy. Always like a old cash register and old country store glass display case. Making good progress on your home town station
That station is great!! I never get tired of looking at it. You guys did a great job on it
Dick, I disagree. Kotex (or other feminine product) machines DO NOT always work when you need them to.
That is too funny you cant beat experience dick hahaha

Very Cool!! Really like the night shots and especialy the corner shelf!Very nice
I like the price of the gas..
The corner shelving really nailed and anchored that whole unit. The outside shot at night is fantastic. Very tastefully done and a pleasure to look at, at any time. Keep us updated.
We don't have alot of stuff or anything real high dollar
Your stuff makes my stuff look like Goodwill rejects!!!
Great photos & postings!
awesome place!! you did a great job!!
GREAT SHELF! Your garage looks like a museum. Like everyone else I love the night shot!
Thanks for all the comments. Maybe in another year I will get all of the shelves done. LOL
Thanks for the update.
Looking good !
NICE!!!!!!
Are the corner shelves one piece or is the front edge a separate piece? Nice Fairbanks scale,LOL It does look great there on the display case. Keep posting pics with the progress.
Each shelf was formed from one piece of sheet metal.
Those corner shelves are outstanding! Love all that you've done with the place.
I have about the same cash register and cant get the drawer open do you think you could tell me the sequence please. thanks wayne
Great Job!! It looks amazing, everything from the flooring to the shelving looks top shelf!! You and your father must of had a great time working together. Thanks for sharing!

We have been looking for a Banjo pole for a long time. They are always too far away and usually way over my budget.
can i move in? love the merc.
Wow, wow, wow. Well if you need another man, I'll come down and work for you, I'd love to live in the station,ha.
Ken.
The hobby lives! Awesome!
Jeremy,
Outstanding craftsmanship and creativity, very impressive! Nice to see a family project. Thanks for sharing.
Tom.
I love how it all turned out. Congrats! Thanks for sharing it with us dreamers.
Hi Jeremy,
Nice to see you posting again,I missed you Buddy. The station is coming along great.I noticed your comment on a Texaco banjo pole.
I know of three of them here in ABQ;two with signs in them and one without a sign. All three guys are friends of mine. They are the kind of guys who know what they are worth and would be at about that if they will sell. They wouldn't try to "rip you off",but would probably price at about market value for here in ABQ.
Those things can get a little pricy if the signs are any good (they are displayable).Want me to check it out?
Hard work pays off with great satisfaction when it's done. Killer is an understatement. Great job!
Wendell, Please let me know about the signs. Pics if possible.
Thanks
Great looking station. Nice work..
great, nice to see the progress on the station
I hated that I didn't have time to stop in last month when I was close. Now I really wish it would have worked out! Your attention to detail shows in your cars and the station. I especially like the shop formed banding on the globe shelf.
