Here is a fantastic Gulf sign in the American Sign Museum in Ohio. The letters are milk glass inserts.

A very nicely preserved 1920s to early 30s station. I really like the windows and doors in this one. It's amazing that the grease pit, wood runners and all, is still preserved. Also, there's a little pad where either a light or air meter was mounted.

Another from Illinois:

These are some pretty neat home-fabricated island lights!

That's all I have for this month - have to save photos for a long winter. Let's see what you've found!

Went to visit my grandmother, and found these along the way, in a shoebox in her closet that is. My great grandfather, hanging out at the local Texaco station. Likely in Holyoke Mass., late 1940's? My grandmother told me he really loved this Oldsmobile.

That Gulf sing is killer, they sold one of them a few years ago at the Las Vegas auction, big money! Did you get a photo of the Kelly Springfield Tire sign in the museum? That's just as cool!!

Here's Dave R.'s picture:

That is a very nice station! It's amazing (and fortunate) that nobody has painted over it yet. I sure hope that someone saves it, before it gets reclaimed by nature.

Oh - Don't spoil the surprise on the Kelly Springfield sign! LOL
I'll post that one next month smile

Have passed this station for over 25 years.
Was always an Amoco that I can remember.
Amazing what time and weather will uncover.
I about put my wife thru the windshield when I saw this.

P.S. Alright already, forget the "cool" car, look at the wall...LOL

WOW a Bruce 88 station, do you know anything else about the brand ?? The matchbooks mention that they had 2,000,000 gallons of marine terminal storage.

This station is in Camp Point, Illinois which is roughly 30 miles from Quincy, Illinois. Trying to buy two pump doors that are in the building with original paint on them. They say "BRUCE '88'" and they have the ethyl plaque on them. Quincy is right on the river and this is a big boating area, but you never see any of this stuff out there at all.

George,

If they ever have an auction, I'm there smile

I'm not so sure you can prohibit picture-taking from public property.

Thanks for posting all of the great pics, guys!

Pumps are still in use on an old farm. Pump on the left is a leaker.

Because of all of the discusion about Frontier this month I thought I would run over to the plant and take some pictures. When I took the picture of the keepout sign the guard came out and tried to chase me off. I was on company property. Told him I was a old employee and he relaxed.
