I recently bought a nice used Red Crown Globe that the paint was almost all gone and it was missing the bottom ring. Luckily I was able to find a used ring that needed a little help. Now after a few hours of bending, twisting, etc. I was able to get it straight again. The ring was a tight fit so I wiped it down with some engine assembly lube to slick it up and the ring spun back into position with no problems. Now I need to re-paint the globe so I can place it on top of my tall base M&S 80 cyclops that also needs to be restored. Here are some pictures of my progress. Mark

Very nice job. Thats an older Red Crown too! It has the arrows instead of the slash marks and I believe they were a little heavier made. Should look really nice when you finish it!

Thanks for the comments on my work. I dont know how old the globe is and frankly it is the first one that I have owned and had in my hands. I thought about getting a repop one until I started looking around at the prices of the originals and figured it was about the same or a little more. Actually I picked up the ring and this globe for under what the repop sells for and I have an original piece. Just needs a little work like the pumps and it will shine like a gem... Mark
