Been Looking A Long Time For One!
What is the story on the "happy" sign? Do you know anything about it?
Thanks,
Wes
Wes,
This porcelain Happy sign comes from the old chain drive pump jacks in the oil patch of the 30's and 40's.They were on either side of the walking beam of the pump jack. They are quite colorful and cool graphics. They are quite scarce today, and quite a prize when found.I have another listed on EBAY now.

Ironic the HAPPY sign has the Diamond also.
What does the SUNRAY sign measure point to point?
Quite a few yrs ago when ya couldn't hardly give a wellhead sign away, I use to cut the logos out & throw the rest away!

You are quite observant! The D-X measures 8.5 inches tip to tip. This is the real thing.Shelving is deep and no dings at all the back is industrial paint mounted on a fabricated cross with a u-bolt attachment. No edge chipping and day one gloss.Really don't believe it ever spent much time outside.I have a large original with the Natural Oils in my sights. The man has had it 20 years in his shop.Maybe someday!
Phenominal colors, I LOVE the "happy" sign. I will look it up on flEaBAY
Very interesting, Robert. Do you know if Happy had anything to do with Mid Continent, or is the matching symbol just a coincidence?
Thanks,
Wes
Wes,I don't believe there was any connection. The art work and graphics on these old porcelain signs are what draw most of us to this collecting thing and the appreciation of the work that was involved in the manufacturing of these pieces. They just don't make em like that anymore.
Wes, Hey I notice you favor a diamond symbol also in your avatar.Must be your engineering make-up.
Robert
Still, the similarities has me a wonderin ............. Ed Shaver
