OMG! Tom--I'd be overwhelmed! Thats practically a life times haul (when you're as old as me)! Theres some really great pumps in there, and then I spotted the globes! If those globes are original, you had a pretty darn nice score there too!
AMAZING--Just Bleepin AMAZING!

haul of the year, how many pumps total? did you get them all in that truck also?
Posted By: dundign Re: Buy of the week - Tue Sep 27 2011 01:33 AM
The haul was 52 pumps total ..40 pumps on the truck for the first load and the second load was 12 more pump .3 lubsters and 26 globes and 2 pepsi machines and mics petro items...

If I was driving and seen that load in the back of the truck, I would have had a stroke. Actually, I would have thought they were scrap and being hauled in where I live.

whistle Hi Tom, I'm surprised at all the Visibles! The obvious question is the one that always angers me.......it's NO ONES' BUSINESS HOW MUCH $$$ I hate that! People ask what you paid for something. If you found it along the road for free that doesn't mean you should sell it to them for little or nothing! Ed.

Why should it anger you ? If you dont want to say .. Dont. Im using me as an example .. but I have no problem with telling before some ask what I pay for something. Maybe its my age or because im new to the hobby but I like to see if others thought I paid ok. I feel it helps me learn. As for your comment on the "free on the rd" big deal if I tell them. If I were 2 sell the item id still ask what i wanted no matter how free or cheap.

Back on topic .. nice haul .. my wife would shoot me.

Ok,
I hope this doesn't go against collector creedo but I'll ask two questions...

Where and How?

Where did you get so many? How did you find out about it? How did you talk your way into getting them? My feelings won't be hurt if you don't want to answer or you can use generalities if you don't want to give away a good source.

How does one stumble accross something like that? Or do you just have good contacts and a good reputation and when someone gots to sell their collection, you're the guy they call.

Great haul Tom, congratulations! You got to love the original condition..very nice. I don't know about you but hauling visibles makes me nervous......too much glass, me and glass don't get along.
Tom.

Nicole, The local TV Station did a short bit on local news channel. A week or so later the local news station host called me and ask if it was alright if he could give my number out. This lady called me the next day and said she had acquired a collection of pumps a few years back and that they were stored in storage... The next day I met with the lady at the storage building... I walked inside and around the corner with my wife at my side and saw the load of pumps sitting in the corner.... I looked at my wife with my jaw dropped open , trying to hide my excitement from the seller.......Made a offer that day to her and then I met her husband...needless to say that I found out later that he had paid double what I paid them for them 9 months later....The husband was the stumbling block for 9 months because he did not want to eat crow....I kept communication with the lady at least once a month... She had told me that when they decided to sell them that I would get the pumps. the last month and a half I decided to back off and not call ... To my surprise I received a voice mail saying they were ready to sell... It was a long time but seemed like forever when you know there is a pile of pump and petrolina just sitting in a building....It took 6 people and 12 hour of loading and unloading to get it done... To me this is once in a life time find... Plan on keeping a few and selling off the rest...

Tom Buckles I stayed wake few nights thinking how I was going ton haul the Visible pumps without breaking the cylinders....IT worked did not break a one !!!

Tom
