Jeff, the pump looks fantastic!
Now that's a nice restoration. Someone spent a lot of detail time to finish it so well.
I am missing the handle, an inspection plate at the base as well as the globe holder piece (cast top is just a chimney).
Was your pump complete or did you have to look for parts? Do they reproduce any of the pieces I mentioned? Are the rods on yours painted or actually brass? What about the "feet"?...is this something you added to protect the floor?
Thanks for your help!
Don
Thanks for all of the nice comments.
Don, My pump was pretty complete, but I did have to buy a few pieces. Ron Scobie has parts for the Wayne 491/492 pumps and my experience with him was great. He knows a lot about the Wayne 491/492 pumps and went out of his way to help me with info and the pieces I needed. The rods are brass and and came from Ron. I added the rubber feet to protect the hardwoods. I picked them up at the local Ace Hardware and ran bolts up through the bottom with the brass rounded nuts on top of the base. It worked great. Just a suggestion as this is what I did, I would put the pump together in the location I wanted to display it, as it is very heavy with all of the cast iron pieces. Jeff

SWEET. Love the pinstripes.
The closer I look, the better it looks. Great detailing!
Sinclair color looks killer on this pump. The gold detail really pops. Awesome Jeff !!
Thanks for all of the positive comments. My dad and I did the restoration from start to finish. We have a lot of time in the pump and we are very happy with the restoration. I wanted one of these pumps for a long time and finally had the chance to buy one. Since the first time I saw a roman it has been my favorite pump and if I could only keep one, this would be it. Thanks again. Jeff
Only thing Better than having 1 is having 2.
I have 491-F & a 492.
That is one nice looking pump. Kudos to your wife for recognizing a fine piece of art for the home.
Awesome pump. Excellent workmanship. Very tastefully done. IMO. The extra effort you put into it sure is evident. What a pump! Dream list for me for sure. These have been special since they were first conceived. Think of the extra mile the architect and the guys in the foundries had to go to make this pump a reality.
Thats a nice spot for it. How about a picture lit at night?
Thanks for sharing.
I think you have accomplished what the rest of us would like to do someday! Restore a classy old pump into a virtual work of art and the be able to display it in the home too! WOW!
Awesome!!! I'm impressed.
