Did Texaco make the Texaco Ethyl globe in a 15" lense? I have Scott's 2012 globe book and don't see a 15" lense listed - only a 13.5" lense.

There is a 15" Texaco Ethyl globe on Ebay. Thinking I might bid if this isn't a reproduction. Take a look and let me know? Thx! Greg

They made a 15" Texaco Ethyl on metal, but not with a red background...it should be white.

Ditto, white background only. Check out the repo section of pcm website, it goes over his perticular globe.

I guess Texaco did make a globe like this, but it was a single one piece globe. And dated at the bottom 31, Extremely rare

According to Scott Benjamin's web sight.

So is the synopsis then that the original posting is of a real body with fake lenses?

Thanks for the feedback on my question.

Someone is going to be mad when they find out the globe they bought is a reproduction. Last I checked, the bidding on the 15" globe was at $390. Greg

I cannot believe anyone would actually think this globe is real. Come on bidders....Colors are way off and Texaco never made this version on metal. Scott Benjamin

My feeling is this, everyone of us should send the following question to the seller or any seller of a questionable item:

DO YOU GUARANTEE THAT THIS GLOBE/SIGN/WHATEVER IS AN ORIGINAL?

Then just set back and see if he answers.

BTY, I sent the question to the seller and I am not even a buyer.

I just sent him my facts on the globe. We'll see what happens...

Well, he did post some of the controversey in his comments section but left it out there that he thinks there is a possibility that its an original. Its up to $455 but nowhere near what the recent Texaco Marine fantasy globe brought!

$485 plus $75 shipping!
