My Oldgas acquired knowledge says fake. On the real ones the two bottom star points will extend down into the text along the bottom.
But, I could be wrong. Let's see what the experts say. Actually Randy, you are one of the experts I thought. And you don't know?
Steve, you are correct, posted to educate the newbe's

Fake. Black TEXACO font dead giveaway. The rest of the fonts are off too
It will be "real" in time, but still a fake. Dave
Check out the "C" in Texaco it looks like a bite taken out of an "O" dead give away for a fake. Notice in Randy's example the correct font doesn't extend downward and is more open.
Randy,
When I saw your post, I said to myself "this is not the Veteran Randy I know". LOL!
Glad you are doing this to educate new collectors.
I wish more & more topics like this would come up.
Thanks,
Hen
BUT it also Educates the Fakers into doing Closer Repops, just a matter of time till they get real close to originals.
The 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock points of the star always point directly to the centers of the white dots. The 5 O'clock and 7 O'clock points always extent into the wording, as mentioned. You'll almost always see these misfits on the fakes.
Green T is Malnourished/Anorexia [Twiggy Model]!
Ok so thankfully we have Wikipedia so we can figure out who/what Twiggy is if you're less than 50'years old. She was pretty and pretty thin.
