Hi All
Hoping I can get some help with a value of a coin my very ill uncle gave to his 90 year old sister, my aunt.
He is currently in hospice care and asked me to make sure that my aunt doesnt get taken when she sell it
I've just been researching current market values and was hoping someone out there that I can trust could help me / her out.
The coin is a 1909 S VDB, MS 63 RB, 1C

Thank You
Without seeing a picture of the coin an exact value can't be assigned. The coin you described should be worth $1500 to $2000 (maybe even a little more depending on eye appeal). I'd suggest contacting a local coin shop or two for an evaluation. The coin is a very popular issue with collectors and should have no trouble selling.
Thank you very much for your response. I will pass your thoughts onto my Aunt. My uncle will be happy I'm looking out for her.
Heres a couple pictures of the coin.
Chuck.
The photos do help. Again, this is a very popular coin with collectors so it won't sit on a dealers shelf very long. I'd recommend taking this to a couple local coin shops for offers. I would expect this coin to sell in the range I stated earlier, a dealer would probably offer a couple hundred dollars less so they can make a profit on it. Best of luck to you, your Aunt and your Uncle.
Chuck, I just got off the phone with my local coin dealer. He says the current greysheet bid price for a MS-63 RB 1909-S VDB Cent is $1300. He said he would offer a $1000 if that coin walked in his shop and try to sell it for $1300. I hope this helps at least give you an idea what this coin should go for. Good luck!
It does help
I very much appreciate you looking into that for me.
Thank You
Chuck
Wow, probably 45 years ago I was at a Cumberland farms store and recieved a couple wheat pennies as change, 1 was a 1909s vdb. I asked if I could see all their pennies and she put them on the counter, there were 3 more 1909s vdb plus several others.
I still have them in my small coin collection, all collected while a paperboy and searching my change.
It sounds like i may have to dig those out and protect them.
I would invest the money in getting them professionally graded. It makes selling them MUCH easier!
