I just did exactly the same thing. These things are phony as Hell. You and I both know that neither Texaco Inc., TRMI, nor The Texas Company ever made or authorized any such item.

Tried that, too, and the lying SOB won't even reply. I wish there was some way to report this sort of **** directly to eBay.

"I remember seeing these when I was a kid ... probably from the 20's or '30's ...". With the 1980's logo!

As my Dad would have said, when that bastard dies they won't have to dig a hole for him. He's so crooked they can just screw him into the ground!

OUCH! Those things are going for $163 with less than an hour left. Bigtime gouge out of someone's pants. It's good to inform the final high bidder, and the rest that this is phony. That way he doesn't go down the line with "the high bidder didn't want this, so I'll offer it to you at your bid amount."
Good job, buytex, for your good citizen deeds.

Man, if I knew i could make doorknobs and falsely advertise them to get that much, I'd think about it. But then my conscience would take over.

What a jerk. I hate this guy and all the people that craftily word their descriptions so that their repro items sound like originals. Errrr!!!!

Guys, take a look at the bids on this item and you will see what happened. First of all there were 13 bids, 3 were from someone who was bidding for the first time ever (a friend of the seller???) another 8 was made from the same bidder (another friend of the seller???) and all of a sudden along came a bidder who out bid them all.
It was either an act of collusion, or the high bidder bid on something he knew nothingthing about and I don't feel God put me on this earth to warn anyone he was being take advantage of. If he was a ligitimagte bidder he was sucked in, if he wasn't he had no business bidding on something he knew nothing about.

Theres one thing you can do . bid him up so high then cancel. or refuse to pay. then give feedback and tell. Its up to you Texaco boys. If you contact the bidder, you shouldn't tell him its a fake, thats called "spamming" just ask him to come to oldgas.com and read the posts on this item. he can pull himself from the auction. That way no ones responsable for his dission. did I spell that right?
