Has anyone tried to reproduce the near 90 degree bends in rigid conduit with a hickey? The second photo shows what remains of the two hole cup that was on top of my Fry 17 at one time. Joe

Yeah, those cups are usually toast. I'm pretty sure you can buy repro fry 17 conduits (bent already). Never used a hickey, but doubt it work on the conduit unless hear is applied.

The bends are too tight of a radius to bend with a hickey, repo conduit is machine bent and correct size.

As Phil stated, a 90 degree angle is much too tight for a Hickey.
With 1/2" rigid, even filled with sand... One would collapse the conduit with such a tight radius... (been there, done that)...

I bend conduit all the time at work, we have a machine that bends really tight radius but not as tight as the fry conduit uses. Someone that makes them has the proper tools, just not me or saying it cant be done.
Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________ Looking for any old pumps, or nice 5 gallon cans.

Yes you can bend all four 90s with a hickey if you have been doing it for 40 or 50 years. You can actually bend them closer than a Fry 90 and not collapse the conduit. However if you are thinking of buying a hickey for the express purpose being successful on your first try, forget it and buy them, you will be a lot happier Good luck.

I also have made good matches to original Fry conduits with a Greenlee heavy style hand bender. Did several of them.

I would bet a local Electricians shop would bend the pieces on the right equipment without much hassle. But maybe that's too easy for the DIY guys....

You need access to a Hossfeld bender, a good welding shop should have one or ornamental / railing shop
