Received the latest Morphy catalog, seen a lot of signs marked restored. What is thought of Old Gas on restored items?

It's a personal thing and also financial. I don't mind restored signs, have done it myself and like the outcome. High dollar guys will complain about doing it but when they are done and hanging on the wall they look good and another one has been saved. People have made businesses doing it.

I agree with Terry,,, it is a personal thing for sure... I have had a few signs restored ,, sold them as restored signs,, as far as value goes,, IMO a restored sign is worth approx. half of a mint original sign..
I find it is a tough hard sell when you want to sell them explaining how much was restored what it looked before although I did have pictures of before. I like it better when a sign " is what it is " no explanations, you get what you see.. to me if your going to restore a sign why not just make a new one..

I'm assuming restored means repainted. Other downside to repainting is the incredible amount of work it takes to do that paint work! Not worth it generally.

Value? Hard to say. Would a restored Husky bring $41K, probably not? I have one sign that was "restored" It looks great hanging up on the wall. One side was done, the other side was left original. It is a 24 inch Sinclair Pennsylvania. Not a super rare sign but not easy to find either. I got one in better shape so the restored one is now up for sale. I would say a mint 24 inch Pennsylvania could go for $6-10K? Cant ever recall hearing of one sell.
