Probably from the same era as this add pouring oil in a creek. Cracks me up!!! Try and get away with that today.

Yeah right, just like the Burger King employee who got caught dumping his fryer oil down a storm drain this week, hilarious.

I disagree with most of you. Having a gas pump on the end of a boat ramp is nothing unusual. How else can you refill the tank of a boat. On page 154 of my 2nd Ed. of the gas pump book, I show one from 1907. Keep in mind, the gas was not kept below the pump, it was probably 30 or 40 feet away in a tank. The tank was the most worry because this is what leaked, not the pump.

Look through my book, every picture of a marine pump was taken from a view of it sitting on the end of a boat ramp.

For sure jack you are right . Up here in old Canada we have 20 percent of the worlds fresh water . Lots of docks with pumps still to this day . However , its the construction of this one that's laughable . One big night of waves and this one is in the lake .

Fryer oil down the drain is nasty lol

Wouldn't they still be installed on docks today? Every marina I've seen has had them on the dock.

We have them here but TSSA ( the safety standard authority ) regulates fuels , natural gas , propane etc . They would never allow pumps to be installed on a wood dock . Most around our area are on an area back from the lake and have long hoses . Also on concrete piers or docks. I'm in the hvac business , at the courses they always tell you one gallon of fuel oil spilling contaminates 1 million gallons of water . The liabilities involved are HUGE .
