I have unwittingly named a person that my family knew in a show case column and have offended maybe more than one person. I probably should have not put the persons name in the remarks post, but I was only thinking of complementing the person who posted the ad on the item he had purchased. I guess I made a major mistake in doing so and maybe something that we all could learn from by not naming any parties that we purchase from, and leave that to the buyers or sellers to name if they so choose. Again my mistake and apology.

I guess it depends upon the person. I often see previous owners of signs and globes mentioned here when an item is posted or pictured by a current owner. You've done what you can to make amends.

Since I'm one of the offended parties I'll add my two cents. Craig knows who I bought my Alemite sign from. It belonged to a very good friend of mine that passed away five years ago. I bought it from his widow whom I see at least once a week, I've been helping her sell some items. I saw her name mentioned last night and having been friends for more than 20 years I can say with 100% certainty that she would be pretty mad about having her name mentioned on here. She's a very private person who lives alone, I know her husband would have been livid. I think anyone on here who has lost a dear friend or colleague would appreciate feeling protective of their families and I urge anyone to think twice before exposing them to public view without FIRST obtaining their permission. I appreciate the apology Craig and hope you understand why this bothered me.

If your worried about exposing the previous owners name then don't post it on the Internet for the world to see.....

You can ask Jim to remove the name...either the person who put the name in, or the person who might know that the named person would not want their name listed.
