After languishing in my barn for years, I finally got my Coke menu board refurbished. I have a new set of letters on the way to post messages with. Any ideas of the value of this piece? Interestingly, when polishing the slat board part, I revealed the un-yellowed areas where the letters originally were and could read what had been displayed. How long ago was coffee 15 cents?

If it helps,I recall paying 15 cents for a cup of fountain COKE around 1975...I remember it was just recently 10 cents in the early 1970's,and I had to go home & get more money. Nice piece of Americana there.

I've got a Howard Johnson's menu dated 1965 that lists a cup of coffee for 15 cents. You might do some research to see when Coke introduced the wave logo to better date your menu board.

Wave logo was introduced in 1969. That menu board is 1970s and possibly as late as early 1980s.

Mid 1970' Sambo's (Denny's big competitor at the time), offered a bottemless cup of coffee for 10¢. Big deal because most were 15¢. Late 1976 early '77 they went to 15¢.
Old Drive-In restaurant here in Indy that still uses several menu boards like that. Combination of red and black letters. Chuck

As posted above, the wave logo was introduced in 1969. I got my letter set yesterday, so just so I could say I had restored the sign, I put all the verbiage on that was on the original sign. I believe this must be from the early 70's based on the prices. The second photo is how I plan to display the sign unless I can think of something "cute" to put on the sign.
As original

You are right - I need to find some way to incorporate the red numbers and symbols - they really make the sign pop more than just the black letters.

...if I had it, I'd put the letters back where they originally would have been...to me, it's a LOT more interesting that way...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
