Hi everyone, I am in Australia and have the big STANDARD sign on the pole (possibly the only one in Australia) I have the flame holder but not the flame, Can somebody tell me the shape of the base of the glass flame please, The reason i ask is because the flame holder is an oval shape but i have only ever seen the flame with a round base ?
Thanks, larry

Its round-I believe there should be four little "tangs" to center up the base of your flame. Your flame should have a collar on it I believe. Then the flame is kind of oval and fits just right in there.

The base is round and threaded and has a metal "collar" which is threaded onto it. Dave

Hi JimT and Dave, Thanks for that, The flame holder i have, still has what i think would be the original thumb screws on it, I will now check out the Flame Globes, i was looking for one with an oval type shape, Thanks to both of you for setting me straight on that, maybe i can now find what i need.

Sorry-I wasnt too clear- The base of the globe is round -I just wasnt sure if 100% of the flame globes over all the years had collars-I believe they did- mine has an aluminum collar. The "flame" itself is oval shaped.

My collar was zinc coated copper or tin...I think. It was the the most unsafe recovery that I every attempted. A man sold it to me for 32 bucks if I could get it down from a 42' tower constructed from three 6" metal pipes. I did, but I would never attempt it again. I was young and STOOPID ! Dave

Hi JimT, Yep i did understand what you was saying. Someone here in Australia did offer me one once in great condition and a from what i understand a very good price, the reason i didn't buy it was i was looking for an oval base shape, I will chase the bloke up as he probably still has it as there is not a huge demand for this item in "Down Here" Thanks Again for your help.
Regards, larry
