I saw this wayne 60 on ebay and I thought it was a repop clockface. I am not sure and thought this would be a good time to ask how exactly to tell. (short of looking inside)
The seller does not say that it is a repop, says it is an original pump. It looks like it is getting up there in price so I assume the bidders think it is a real clock.
Is this real or a repop kit?
Thoughts?

I see it has a knob and not a crank handle so that makes it look original. I was hoping Bennett would be around, I remember him talking about this once.

I know the seller and I remember him telling me that it was real. I will call him this afternoon to confirm.

If it was a clockface from day one wouldn't it be a model 866 not a 60? The tag says model 60.

Tokheim I think you are right but who knows what happens to these pumps over the years? Also I know many people just say wayne 60 even if it is an 866. (I know I have)
I guess I could email the seller but what I am really trying to find out is if there is some way to tell from the pictures. I have seen these come up on ebay from time to time.

i dont know if ive ever seen a 866 narrow body?

maybe they made them?
ive never seen one.

the doors are screwed on meaning the main frame & MAINLY THE DOORS were altered from using the original clips. that turns me off.
BUT can be easily fixed.

good lookin pump though! BUY IT IF ITS CHEAP!!!

AQUA, I JUST WENT THRU THE SAME 60/866. DON'T CLAIM TO BE A PUMP EXPERT, JUST MY OPINION.I HEARD THAT CLOCK FACES DON'T HAVE FOUR SCREWS ON THE FACE PLATES?(MINE DOES WITH THE "ORIGINAL" FACES!)DON'T GO BY THE KNOB I'M SURE THAT WAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS. ASK HIM IF THERE IS A CLOCK MECHANISM OR A COMPUTOR INSIDE.(IF ANY) I ENDED GETTING A SUPER DEAL ON MINE & ALL APPEARS TO BE A "ORIGINAL WAYNE CLOCKFACE"
IF IT FEELS RIGHT, GO FOR IT..............CJ

I asked the seller the same questions. He sent me some photos of the inside and it does have a clock mechanism. Everything appeared to be original. I was thrown off by the 60 on the ID tag also. I think the pump is right but don't know about the 60 versus 866 on the tag. Maybe narrow bodies were still 60s?

It looks like a wide body to me, but here is a quote from this months PCM mag.

"While most Wayne #60 (narrow body) pumps were manufactured in the single computer version, they were also produced in a clockface electric meter version (the Wayne model #866) and a tandem (twin) computer version (Wayne model #65). These last two Model #60 are extremely rare today, and I am not personally aware of any examples of these variations that exist in collections today".

This article is focusing on the "narrow body" versions.

I forgot to mention. The doors appear to be hinged instead of the "twist" clip type. This is CORRECT for the Atlantic branded #60's.

from the horses mouth-
paul states that it is original and he has taken pictures of the meter and the faces to prove it. We chatted about how many offers he has had in the last couple of days to pull it. Offers from 750-2000... Doc from Parker had this pump before Paul did so he may be able to add a little more but it looks original to me.
