Guys: Can anybody help the newbies out there determine what 12" round PPPs are real and which are fantasy signs? I have been told that Mobil(round), Texaco, Phillips 66(orange & white), Lion, and Shell(yellow claim shell) never made an 11"-12" PPP. Is that correct? What about: Mohawk, Humble, Washington, Musgo, White Rose, Frontier, Buffalo, Sunset, Pure, Magnolia, American, Red Crown, Gilmore, Sinclair HC & Dino, Hancock, Standard w/ flame, etc. These ubiquitous signs are flooding the market. Any answers to these questions will help us determine who's responsible for the proliferation of these signs on sites like EBay and help us to target them and shut them down. Thanks Keith

Yes. It is one thing to legitimately market fakes for those who just want the 'look', but to try to pass them off as authentic is reprehensible at best!

The best reference book out there is " PCM's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration ".
It lists most if not all of the common pump plates and sizes that were used by the various gas and oil company's.

It may be available for sale on the oldgas online bookstore.

It appears it is available. http://www.gaspumps.info/#

I think the best thing to go by is if it ROUND AND 12" DIAMETER back away as there is an overwhelming chance it is a fantasy item,
Musgo, Pure, Sinclair, Standard didn't use round porcelain pump signs period.
