I'm looking at a set of green porcelain letters that spell AMOCO but the font does not look right and they are only 8" tall. I googled Amoco service stations and found several large sets in photos but the font looked a little different. Never found a picture with small letters.

Does anyone have pictures they can post for a set of small AMOCO letters. I would like to compare it to a set I'm looking at.

Thank you!

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but (hopefully)attached is a set I had... Can't remember the exact size since I sold them long ago, but the Gulf letters above them were 18" to give you a rough size estimate.

Thank you for taking the time to post a picture. That looks just like the ones I'm looking at except mine will not have rails.

Around what years would those letters be in service? 1930's, 40's, or 50's? Would you mind telling me what you sold them for? Could PM it to me if you wanted to.

Thanks!

On the old service station letters most often you find sans serif fonts (fonts without hangs at the ends of the letter). This is because single word expression/identification tend to stand out easier in those fonts.

Gulf was an exception as they liked to use Serif fonts for many years though now they are san serif. Texaco can be found as a mix of serif and san serif. And through the years the use would change.
