Me and my daughter found this Jewell hanging in a tree while deer hunting this week and it was 12' off the ground . I have always heard the wise tail from the old timers that it will be a mild winter when the hornet nests are low . I cut it down and made sure it was vacated and give it a shellacking today.

Ha . You are right , kind of a morbid feeling standing under one of these . I made my daughter get in the truck to be safe. I have heard stories of the ones that have thawed out on people once they have taken them inside . This one had a fist sized hole in the bottom were birds or moths had invaded it . My advise to anyone would be a put a nest in a large trash bag and load it up wasp spray over night to be safe.

Travis-- I found this one about 25 years ago while elk hunting in Montana. I had to climb a tree about 20 feet to get it down, but we never see them here in North Dakota, and I just had to have it! Its been hanging in my office ever since! Its a great reminder of some great memories!
