I found these Crown gasoline lenses going up for auction and after looking at the photo closer I noticed quite a big difference in each lens. I circled some of the differences on the left lense so you can compare to the right one. There are more subtle differences I did not circle but there are many more. I was just wondering if both lenses are genuine or not. The ball sizes don't match up on top, and the half moon shape in the red circle on top of the crown are faced differently. Also the blue pattern on the crowns are not the same. I didn't see two different versions of this globe in the globe CD. Would they have changed the design a little bit through the year or maybe a different manufacturer? Or has someone just made a really good reproduction and if so which one or both?

At first glance they look like mirror images.

They look fine to me...I do not know of these ever being reproduced in any size.

I too think they're original. I have an original lens like the one on the left. The one on the globe CD is like the one on the right.

There are different variations that we are aware of. We have two variations in the CD. This is another. Does not surprise us this is an old company...Scott B.

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to learn all I can so I don't get burned on any reproduction items. I glad to say I do not have one reproduction item in my collection and hope it stays that way.
