I kinda like the torch idea Doc, especially if you're using gasoline too.
I've also tried.
Dish soap in warm water (cuts grease) Simple Green (really smells bad but works okay) Citri-strip (careful or you'll loose the paint) Alcohol (especially if you drink a little too) Shotgun (mostly on old soda cans)

TOM, NEVER HAD POSSESION OF DIESEL TO EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING IT! LET US KNOW HOW IT WORKS IF YOU TRY IT. "CAKED" ON GREASE, HUH? I'VE EVEN LEFT A CAN IN THE HOT SUN AND THAT OLD GREASE SEEMS TO BE PERMANENTLY SUCK TO THE CAN. BE CAREFUL AS I'VE FADED OUT THE LABEL ON A FEW CANS IN THE PAST. I JUST STAY AWAY FROM THEM UNLESS THEY ARE FREE!
GOOD LUCK!

Warm water and Go-Jo works well. Those Baby Wipes that come in a plaxtic box and are moist, cleans a can up pretty good.

Add hand cleaner to the list but no pumice in it. Always try an area that doesn't show first. Ted ------------------ Ted & Pam Roach Stuck in Lodi CA. pca-west.org

Don't mix up your colors! Simple Green is OK as someone else said, but watch the Purple Power. Right after I sprayed a 5 gal. Pure can with Purple Power, the phone rang. I went to answer it and came back about 10 minutes later. As I sprayed the can with water to rinse the Purple Power off, I watched a $50 can become a $2 can... ------------------ Wally Blackburn www.gasandoilsigns.com

Castrol super clean, and Purple Power... mix them with an equivelant amount of water though... way too concentrated to be used straight on something like a can
