Have never asked for one,but have paid a few. Not because I was asked to but because I wanted to. Being somewhat a one brand collector I need all the help I can get. You have no idea how many shows I attend and find nothing related to Pierce.

I am also a believer of, if you do a favor, it will come back to you .........

If I did not buy and knew someone who collected, I would pass info on for free.

Okay I will give it a try and see what happens. NO FEES.

I have PM'ed Jim to see where he wants these leads posted.
I will post whatever information I have on the item or items.

If someone is interested in contacting the seller they can contact me via Email at john@oldgaspumpguys.com

NO PM'S

When you contact me give me your location and contact information.
If there is no information I will not pass on the seller information.
I will contact the seller and ask if they want buyers contacting them.
Fair enough?

It is very similar to when member pass along Craigslist leads. If it is non-petro, it should go in the Non-Petro For Sale forum.

I moved your topic to that forum.

Thanks,
Jim

I guess we will see if this works.

Well said Tom. The fun is the most important part for us. We go as a team and everybody wins. If we see something that a fellow collector might want then we pass it on. The favor is most always returned in time.

I have a standard policy that if a gallery or our local historical society recommends me for a commissioned painting, I give them a % commission (a finders fee). For the historical society, I want to support them, for the commercial gallery, any small business owner can always use a few extra $$. Just because I offer the commission does not mean they need to take it.

Maybe I am looking at your question from the other side--If I was a collector and the person who found the item for me, makes a living from this, or it's an oldgas member who might not have a lot of income, I would offer a finders fee. It does not mean they need to take it, but I wouldn't think less of them if they did. Hopefully they won't think less of me for offering. IMHO

Passed on information to TEN people back in the middle of March. Five on signs and five on a sign pole.
So here is the problem.......
I take my time to pass on this information. "No finders Fee"
I did not ask for anything in return except to let me know how it turned out.
NOTHING FROM ANYONE. NOTHING.
NEVER AGAIN.

That's really sad to hear John....even once common manners or simple courtesies have fallen by the wayside. I mean come on, not even a brief follow-up letting you know the result? Take the info and run evidently.....

I bought an extremely rare Motown Record Corp. item from a dealer yesterday and we got on the subject of passing along leads. We agreed that other than passing them to very close friends/collecting associates that it's something you don't do. If people aren't doing or learning the art of networking, then let them keep searching on their own.

I, and I assume others, have had nothing but good dealings with John. He is a gentleman in the old fashioned sense of the word.
So regardless if money is exchanged as a finders fee or not, the courtesy of a acknowledgement of how it went would be a small favor to ask for and very easy to do. I can understand your disappointment John.
