I'm in the market for a new Texaco sign and i'm thinking of looking for a Texaco roofing shingles tin sign. I would love to have the porcelain one but i'm afraid that's out of my budget right now (and probably impossible to find).
Anyway, I'm curious about the dates of these signs. From my research of this site and my Texaco books, the only examples i could locate were from 1936. One '36 example has the date (F-7-36) and 'made in U.S.A' on the left side together and the other one has the 'made in U.S.A.' on the left side and A-7-36 on the right side.
So since they are from different manufacture batches, they have differently placed date codes? does the difference denote genuine versus reproduction? Just a few things i'd like to learn about this sign before i start my search for one.
As always, an input is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
