It looks to me like this pump was made for the 615, but I have never seen a 615 with a pump like this.
Anybody?

We bought a 615 with the same pump a couple of years ago. I will see if we still have a photo of it. Vertical piping was the same also. Somebody really thought that out to get around the pump.

That is what I thought too, but it does not look like anything was modified. It looks original to the frame. The Wayne handle attaches like a Fry but has never been modified either.
Been doing this a long time and see things I have never seen before.

That is a Fry pump. Notice the Patent numbers on the top and the additional numbers which have been added to the front casting. This would indicate that someone had altered the original cast iron pattern(I worked in an iron pattern shop for 14 years). I am guessing that this pump was assembled after Wayne's acquisition of Fry and that they altered the pumps to fit the old Wayne bodies. Notice how the sides have been "flattened". The back is not visible, but are the "ears" present ?
Here is a photo of a Fry 70 pump. Notice the similarities.

I am not sure that it is a Fry pump. It may be a Rush pump. I once owned a Rush Model J with the same pump. All of the information on the pump in question is also on the Rush pump. Note the straight sides just like the pump above.

Perhaps...but You see Fry pumps with Wayne and Rush conversions, but I am told that the Patent numbers belong to Fry(GLM). This should be easy to research. Who patented the pump ?

Not easy research prior to 1972. To run a search on the US Patent web site, for patents issued before 1972, you must have the patent number. The patent numbers in the 1920s had a million number and I could never find that type of number on a Fry pump. I found several Fry patents, but they are in the name of the company chief engineer, W.C. MacMillen.

I have the same pump in what I thought was a 615 but the tag said 665. Other than the pump all else was the same as a 615. Tom
