I picked up a Kendall quart oil can Friday at a junk store. The can is in great shape, and still has the oil inside. I'll admit I know zero about collecting oil cans, I bought it because the can logo matched my Kendall neon spinner clock. If the oil has stayed inside the can this long, is it safe to assume it will for the foreseeable future...or should I drill a hole in the bottom of the can and remove the oil? I just don't want to walk into an oily mess when the oil starts leaching out.

Any advice from the can collectors??
Paul

My method is to drain them rinse the inside then plug the holes with clear caulk

I drain all of mine from the bottom. I use a church key as there called then rinse with a thinner. I dont fill holes as nothing will leak out one rinsed and drys. Oil is not like a fine wine where it is better with age.
