I'm in the process of restoring a Bowser 318 Varley Sentry pump. The question I have is, where the upper and lower skins come together a screw attaches both skins to the frame. The screw is made of brass. Do I paint the brass screw to match the skins, or do I leave it brass?

Thanks for your imput

Hey Ron... You're right down the road from a bunch of us.
I say shine up that screw and attach those skins. Shiny Brass looks good anywhere.

Ron, I guess you ask because you're interested in originality. The only reason to paint the screw would be if the pump originally was painted with the skins attached. My guess would be that the skins were painted off of the pump, and therefore leave the screw as it is.
