I trying to find the differences in the American models 903, 905, 907 & 908. The Gasoline Pump Blue Book lists them as low pumps & they are not listed in Jack's book.
Please post pics if you have any of the four models.
Posted pic of my American I just bought but it is missing the ID tag.

Thanks, Chris

American referred to these pumps as the 901 Series. The only things I have is a parts sheet for the 901 and a sales sheet for the 900. I appears to be a tall pump possibly with ad glass panels above the inside sight glass. I do have one other picture of a non-computing 901 Series, so one of the Model numbers above is for the non-computing pump, usually the last one listed.

Two of the above numbers will for a pump with the hose on a reel, and one with the entire hose outside the pump.

My 901 parts sheet has the ad glass above the face. Your pump appears to be a Series 1000 pump. This is the only American pump as far as I know that has the ad glass panel below the face. I have a picture in my new book (coming out soon) that shows the 1000 and it looks like yours.

Jack,
So the 903, 905, 907 & 908 are basically the same pump. One non-computing, one retracting hose on a reel, one with retracting hose cable (like mine should have) and one with loose hose outside of the pump.

Do you know if there are four different short models in the 1000 series like the 901 series?

Thanks, Chris

Since I don't have any information on the 1000 Series, I can't say for sure, but that was done by many gas pump companies. For instance, Bennett 300 Series, 500, 700, 900 etc. Tokheim 39 Series, 300, etc.
