Hey guys, I was lucky to find an American 2487 on the west side of the country. It has a cracked cylinder and I'd like to start hunting for one. I've never had one before and I see conflicting information both on old posts here as well as the cylinder size guides that are out there. It looks like the cylinder is either 12.5x25.5 or 12.5x26. Can anyone say definitively which size cylinder these take? And if it's 12.5x25.5, does someone out there have one they'd cut loose of?? Obviously if it's 12.5x26 it won't be too tough to locate. Thanks!

Ok, I didn't get much help on this one but through a little ingenuity I was able to measure what I had left. I thought I'd update for those looking in the future. For the pump pictured, the correct cylinder size is 12.5 x 25.5". Now...if anyone has one of those lying around, please let me know!

Petropumps, I have the exact same pump that I am restoring as well and I also need a cylinder. I could have sworn there was good info on oldgas.com that this pump takes a 12.5 x 26 in cylinder.

I have an original sales brochure for the 2487. It has all kinds of measurements, but nothing on the cylinder. Bummer again.

I have two of these pumps and both cylinders are 12.5 x 25.5 inches, I did use a 26 inch tall in one by having the nuts on the very ends of the rods, new longer cylinder rods would work better. Tom

Tom, This is good to know. The rods on my pump are shot and I need to get new ones. Sounds like if I get rods just a little longer than original I should be good.

I think I also added some spacers to the gallon marker rods to make them snug with the taller cylinder but it was no big deal, I suppose you could just use new rods for them too. Tom
