Alignment notch is a pretty good indicator that it's original, but not always

Now, you got me all confused, Dennis!
I thought the "notch" was for "13.5" & not for 15" lenses ???

Not mounting slots on the sides like 13 inch globes..an alignment notch is at the bottom shaped like an inverted V. The original globe bodies have a little "bump" that fits into this notch so the lens is straight and image is not crooked or cocked to one side when mounted...you can see it in the pics

Thanks for all the info. It came with a visible pump i bought. Yes it has a 7" base for metal band globe. Both sides def have the V at the bottom. I have zero interest in selling it but just curious what a globe like this the value is?
Thanks in advance Dan

Easy to tell the repro when you have a real one next to it for comparison, but you don't always have that luxury.
That is why I prefer to look at the backside. As Huskerscott alluded to the real ones should have some texture to them. Repros are usually smooth as a baby's butt.
Second test is to try to chip off a little bit of the paint with a key or something. An original fired lens it will be very difficult to chip the paint.

There are many differences. THe clear ones are the position of the rear leg over the ( a ) instead of the (g) , also the (o) is round instead of ovel.
If you search there is a very good past post talking about these globes.
