Anyone ever try to repair a BB hole/chip/crack in a glass cylinder with this windshield repair method of resin injection? I know it wont be perfect, but for a pump that is going outside, how bad can it be?
Just wondering if anyone has tried it.

I had a blue cylinder that someone had fired four BBs into it, and it was preferable to me to use it rather than a plexiglass one. I used a two-part clear epoxy available at Lowe's. The holes were in three different locations on the cylinder, so it took 3 different days to do the repairs. They were clean BB holes with no cracks of any kind. I wished, though, I had experimented with some blue tint before filling the depressions from the inside. I have a close-up photo of one of the repairs but I don't have a way to send it to you via e-mail. If you would like to send me a PM with a mailing address, I will be glad to send you a color print of the BB repair.

I tried it with some resin too some time ago and the look didn't change much. Maybe I had the wrong material. Also tried a windshield repair filler and it just fell out.
I hope that works because I have two cylinders sitting on the shelf with BB hits.

We need a windshield guy to explain the repair process. I seem to remember someone saying that repair is like injected mold process and has to be cured with high heat. Otherwise it doesn't appear smooth or clear.

the windshields on a vehicle are all made of laminated glass, two separate pieces held together with some sort of polyvinyl material, not sure of proper name. When it gets a chip it is usually only in the surface layer. When the repairs are done the chemical reaction is with the center layer of poly, which allows the patch to work when it is heated. A visible cylinder is nothing more than a round piece of single thickness plate glass. when a repair is attempted there is nothing to bond with so it will probably never work. I say "probably" because I never say never. When I was restoring pumps I usually considered myself lucky if the cylinder only had a couple of BB cones in it. Norm Huff
