That funny Jack, but it's true. If it were mine; I would definitely restore it...worth more and makes for a better display.

Awesome car but it's not original paint. Someone has at some long gone point over-painted a considerable portion of the car with that green.

Do a search for American National 1920's pedal cars and you'll see some originals and restored. Note the detail level of the cars on the trim, etc.

Restored it's worth far more than in condition. If it was original paint I'd say keep it as is, but since it's not I'm edging toward an honest resto. A slightly less gloss paint job just like the original would bring out it's beauty. Sadly most restorers continue the trend of 'glossing' these cars with modern deep shines so they look 'too new'.

FWIW except in the most rare cases these 1920's cars are typically found in this shape, having been repainted at least once in their lives.

These are American National Paige cars. Look at the detail and you'll see how an original should look as a 'survivor'. The level of detail is phenomenal.

American National Paige.

And here is a resto on a pedal car very similar to yours.

American National restored

We are pretty sure now it's a child's barber chair not a pedal car

Actually it can be both. The barber chair cars were pedal cars with the pedal drive arms removed, they were not specifically created for barber mounts, they were converted. These conversions are still done if you research them. Also, if it is a barber version it should have a foot rest for the child to keep them from falling out the bottom.
