Stay safe up there Lloyd! We got a couple of inches of rain down here in Atlanta last night. Expect a few more tomorrow during the day. We certainly need it! Dave

Well bad info. Over Gatlinburg as they call it the ski hill is ok. 80 mph winds carried the fires down hill. 250 homes reported burnt,3 has died.

Beautiful area. Hate to see the fire damage. Hope to have more rain and less wind to help the firefighters.

Dang! It looks like all the good rain is still east of Knoxville. Hope the system shifts over enough. How far away are you from everything, or have fires broken out over a broader area?
Have that bag packed just in case - keep safe!

Nicole I'm west just outside of Nashville city limits. We have had brush fires seems like ever day,but nothing of this scale. Mother Nature helped them out last night as they got rain behind the front of windy conditions. We have rain again tonight been a long time coming. Two nights back to back wow maybe our dry spill is on its way out! Bring on the soggy bottom boys!

The much needed rain will help the Southeast. When I left SC two weeks ago for a road trip the smoke in the Upstate was getting problematic for outdoor activities. Until I got well below Atlanta the stench of smoke was commonplace.
Driving home last night from Florida I was struck by the foreign smell of wet pavement and heavy fog from the first wave of rain to hit the region in some time.
Prayers go out for Gatlinburg as well as all the other areas that have been fighting fires for over a month. May God continue to bless us with rain showers regularly!
Collecting anything keeps you young at heart!
