Hi All, Anyone have tips on restoring the Brass tag on a Islander scuff plate? Mainly putting some black paint on the tag while still being readable. Any Thoughts ?

Polish up the brass the raised parts of the lettering. Then spray paint the tag black. While the paint is still tacky and not fully dry. I take a cotton rag and wrap it tightly around my index finger and apply some solvent to the rag. Then I run my finger across the top raised edge of the letters. The rag will remove the paint off of the letters but leave it in place in the lower recessed parts of the tag.
