Just looking for some guidance on value here - I came across this past weekend a 60" Oldsmobile Service sign, in it's original hanging ring. The sign is marked on the bottom as being made by Walker, and the sign is in absolutely amazing condition. What would be a reasonable price to pay for this kind of sign? I have no doubt that it is real, just don't want to overpay.
Thanks.
J

Yes, it's a $6,000 sticker, but should a 60" Oldsmobile Service sign fetch that kind of money??? That's the question.
Thanks

I'd say $6K is full bore Retail, but in today's market nothing surprises me. If you really love it, and have a Classic Oldsmobile, and will be sleeping on the couch with it for a number of years....go for it. But I would not buy it on the premise you can "flip it" and make some money anytime soon. JMO. Ed.

If that signs is, as nice as it looks in the picture on both sides and has the original ring. If that was close to me and was $6000.00 Canadian...I'd be all over it like ugly on an ape!

From the photo, it looks like the sign was for sale at a swap meet (maybe large Jefferson, WI event this past weekend?). If that was the case, you can bet the seller left some negotiating room in the $6,000 asking price.
At today's exchange rate, Dave's $6,000 Canadian Dollars would equate to about $4,375 U.S. Dollars. It's nice to have the ring with the Olds sign. However, I don't think the pricing for a 60" dealer sign is necessarily as strong as for the 42" size (ease of displaying). John

dont forget that these Oldsmobile signs are EVERYWHERE right now! I have seen at least 8-10 of them in 8.5-9.5 condition for sale in the past year. When closer to the 9.5 condition, they have been getting near $5-6000... and when closer to 8.5 condition, they have been getting around $3000-3500.
its worth noting, anyone wanting one for those prices could have one in a heartbeat by attending any of the major gas/oil shows this year.
