The new auction buzz word is contemporary or is it contagious,lol about five yrs ago i got to go to iawa gas,seen around 9 venders selling repo,or fake signs,none when asked said they where original, did this vender when asked say it was original

That vender would be "smokey" from Lima, Ohio. A well known seller of unmarked reproductions.

Thanks for the info maxgas. Guess I got "smoked"

Regrettably, I did not ask the all important question about its authenticity before I bought it, so I suppose he can just fall back on that, and I guess he is free to ask any price he wants for something. Certainly deceptive to bang up a $30.00 sign and ask 125.00 though.

I understand the show relies on vender fees to cover costs, but just letting any one in can be problematic, especially if they have a reputation as a deceptive seller. Are there any rules for vendors, like all reproductions need to be labeled as such? Others had repo signs but most had it marked on the price tag or it was otherwise pretty obvious due to condition and price or something.

The color and graphics of the Sky Chief sign make it one of the sharpest pump plates. Good place to start Joe!
