I know this has to have been discussed, but my searches keep coming up more or less blank. Is there any way to tell on a 13.5" wide body? From what I recall being discussed, it's almost, if not, impossible to tell. I just don't want to pay an inflated price for what some guy claims is real and then some day find out that it's not. Any help appreciated!!!!

If it's been used, there are usually indications of age: paint drips, acid rain etching and ground in dirt on the ground area at the bottom of the neck. And original bodies are slightly gray as compared to a new body. But you need to put them side-by-side to tell the difference. Later . . . Jim

Some of the older bodies are really heavy glass as well. Been told it is very hard to tell newly made ones from old ones as they use the same mold. Scott has said price wise not much difference in an old body and a new one.
Drive with Care and Buy Sinclair!! I buy Sinclair globes, signs, cans, ect.

keithia makes a good point. All the new glass bodies are made from the original molds. Except the ripple bodies, and I'm not sure if those are still being reproduced. In my experience, weight is not a safe indicator as the new glass bodies I sell vary by about a pound sometimes from one to another. Look for evidence of use. Hardly any of the original bodies I have purchased have failed to have enough 'dirt' on them to let you know they were original. Even after I spend time cleaning them up - you can still tell when you look closely. Later . . . Jim
