Hi Folks....
Today I caught my first AMERICAN Pump here in Germany ( not too many around here ) and I´m not really familiar to the american pump field
A Jeans Company sold out here Decoration Items and I was right there...
I dont even know what make it is exactly but I had to make the decision in a hurry as there were alot of buyers on the phone because they advertised it in the local Classifieds...
1 Screen is broken and it is missing the hose ...( on the Picture a hose is visible because there were 2 identicals pumps Standing side by side but the one with the hose was much worse in condition and they dont allow me to add the hose from the other to mine )
It is overpainted in grey -
I could swear that there is original red porcellain underneath when I´m able to take the gray layer of paint off the pump....
Anyone Recommendations or Experience with this Pump ?
( I´m sure ...)
Greetings from Germany
Andy

Hi Andy, You bought a Martin and Schwartz Model 80....also known as a Wayne Model 80. This is because the Wayne pump company bought out M&S in 1950 and continued using this style for several more years. These are very popular pumps. Easy to restore etc. Probably red paint beneath the gray as most Mobil Gas pumps were red all over. You can see this restored unit on my site under For Sale {Pumps} scroll down to the sold units and you will see one of these that was just sold and is on it's way to Germany, as we speak. Good buy, in my opinion. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Andy,

If you got a good deal, go back and get that Coke Machine too (and the other pump)! That pump is worth approximately $750 US.

Like Paul said, it's probably red paint. However if you truly believe its porcelain and you don't know how to tell, just look for any chipped red paint. Take a close-up picture of the chip and post it here, someone will respond. You can also try using paint remover... if red paint comes off, it's NOT porcelain. I'm not sure if this pump was ever made in all porcelain. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Enjoy your new pump,
Steve

Andy,

I am the writer of the gas pump ID books and I also have a web site with a lot of pictures on it. Here is what I have on the Wayne 80: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/wayne%2080.htm

Basically everything on the Wayne 80 is the same as the M&S 80,

I have been to Kaiserslautern, actually to Landoh?. Have you ever eaten at the Schnitzel House.
