If it's silicone or regular house caulking - you can save them.
Just have to take you time cutting them loose and then cleaning them up.
But I agree - what and *****.
Later . . .

Obviously a non gas collector with their head up their butt. If you got it Steve I hope you save it and show the results of your effort.

'How to ruin globe lenses' ...or, 'How to buy a nice pair of lenses and a Gill body for cheap' ...nothing there that can't be easily undone...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Hmmmm?? Nice to know guys!! I figured the caulk would harm the backside of lens and show a ring when lit up.

Steve, You can get real agressive cleaning the back of a lens. I've even used 600 wet-or-dry with Windex as a lubricant to clean off stubborn stains. Just a little pressure and they will come surprisingly cleaner. Later . . . Jim

Steve, I really can't tell what is on them, but I have had lenses that were on with plaster. I have taken a guitar or piano wire while keeping them wet; and cut them out. You have to be patient by putting all the pressure on cutting the plaster. Hope this helps you now or in the future. One looks broken, but this may help you if both of them aren't already broken.

You know how paper marks show when a bad lens is lit? I'm just surprised by what some of you have said about being able to clean that back side aggressively without it showing. Hmmm??

Paper narks are on the front of the lenses. This ***** is on the back. Much easier to clean. Later . . . Jim
