I just picked up this old White Rose Bowser pump. As you can see the base was broke off near the top of the casting. From what I can gather by the length of the pipes this base would have been close to 24 inches tall. The width of the skins is small at 7 and 8 inches wide. There is a lot of different things on this bowser and I have never seen another so I don't know the model, even though it has a tag. The cylinder is only 27 inches tall, way shorter than most, the top is one piece cast pot metal. There is a locking lever, not sure, but I think there must be a shut off valve there. And I think it had a rotary handle to pump gas, not a handle. Anyway, would anyone have a base on their bowser that is about 24 inches tall that I could get a picture of as I doubt finding one will be easy. Looking thru Jacks book, it looks like a part of about 4 different Bowsers to make this one. LOL

What is the dimensions of the skins where the base would fit to them? I am guessing the base is the same as most of the bowser visibles. I will be getting a base casted for one of my pumps soon and could have one casted for yours if you want.

Minuteman, here are photocopies of three ads for the Bowser Post Sentry from December 1923, March 1924, and August 1924 with 5 and 8 gallon cylinders. I don't know if they made a 10 gallon model. They do show the shape of the base and a rough idea of size. Cheers.

thanks for the ad's Don...it has the same hat as the last ad you posted, I never looked to see if there is 5, 8 or 10 of the gallon indicator's. Maybe it is an 8 gallon, will have to clean the glass to see. So its a Post Sentry pump. I know of 5 different canadian single bowser visibles now. I will check the diameter Charley, but suspect 12 or 12.5 inches

forgot to add, all 4 of the other Canadian bowsers take 31 inch tall cylinders so maybe it is an 8 gallon Don.

Yes it’s an 8 gallon pump Coop. The cylinder is 12x27 inches exactly. It had 3small cracks but it’s out and in about 30 pieces now!!

I hear gorilla glue works wonders, lol. So can you use a 10 gallon US cylinder to replace an 8 gallon imperial cylinder since the ratio is around 5 US to 4 imperial?

12x27 is a ten gallon US. Tokheims used a lot of 12x27 cylinders.

Maybe that is why they made 8 gallon pumps here. They had access to 10 gallon US cylinders. 8 imperial gallons seems like a strange size to have for a gas pump. I wouldn't have thought that it was due to the size of car gas tanks but I could be wrong.
