I am looking to restore this island display cabinet and cannot find any up close or detailed photos of one to go off of. Particularly of the light that went in the top. Mine is missing the fixture and I’d like to know what style was original. Does anyone happen to have this same cabinet that could send me some pics? Thanks in advance!

Still can’t find any good photos of one of these cabinets. Does anybody out there have one or have any leads?
Thanks

Mike Slama in Portland has one of those unrestored I believe. You can probably get him on his email or web site. Google Mike Slama and you will see the site.

I am not trying to be smart, but what leads you to believe this was used on a service station island?

The first indication that led me to this conclusion was the outline of the Shell logo that shows through the repaint on the front and back of the cabinet. Next I’ve found some old photos with these cabinets sitting on a service station island. Could this cabinet have been used for other purposes and someone just decide to add some shell decals later? Yes I suppose that is possible. However from my photos I have determined that these cabinets ( as well as a few other similar styles, possibly from a different manufacturer) were used as service station display cabinets and that is what I would like to restore it to. I had never seen one before I found this one and started researching but I think they are a very cool piece of petroliana history. I’ll try to attach a couple of the photos I have found that shows them in use.

Shell did use these cabinets. I have seen several original Shell cabinets in person and in pictures. The last picture posted above has Wayne 50 showcase pumps, not stand alone display cabinets.

Thanks Matt, I see now that those are showcase pumps in the last pic. I’ve not yet found any pics of these at an old shell station but have found others advertised as coming from a Shell station. If you’d happen to stumble upon any pics of these cabinets, I’d love to see them. Thanks again

The decals answer my question. My reason is that these cabinets are very similar to those used in doctor's and dentist offices. By the way, Erie Pump Company was a large maker of these cabinets.
