I have two Sunoco signs and there are subtle differences between them. I need some experienced help to determine if they are a.) Both real b.) Both fake c.) 1/1. The differences are... Sign A: Color--yellow is more orange, blue is more navy and the red is darker Bottom curve of the "S" is filled in with yellow Back color is olive/tan in color Lettering is a bit more crisp
Sign B: Color is brighter Bottom curve of the "S" has some white in it Back color is blue gray
Any takers for the challenge of declaring them real/fake?

WOW!!!! Now ain't that interesting!!!!!! Both real??? Different sign manufactures??
Are they the same size? Same stud spacing?
FWIW, mine looks like sign "A"
My first inclination is that sign "A" is real. And not just because that's the one I have, but because of the colors. But, for all I know, they may both be real!!

Here is a picture from the time period. Although tough to see, I think it appears to show white in the S and O like sign "B"

With studs - they're both 'real'.
All the reproductions of these signs that I have seen don't have studs - they were attached with double stick tape.
Later . . .

this is not an offer to sell...the title reads A Tale of two signs. I just want to know if one of them is authentic!

Sounds like you are getting offers from potential buyers that are not visible to the rest of the forum readers. I guess I am not surprised about that. I agree with the other posters. If it has studs, I believe it is the real deal .

I am NOT receiving or soliciting offers from buyers!! This is the very first time I have posted on this forum! My husband was a collector and created a nice collection. I hate to dismantle it but it is now time and I need to become more educated about them before I can even begin to think about selling them. I know that he was an impatient buyer and paid way too much for some of his signs and that there are some inauthentic sign among them so I am trying to wade through them and make some sense of them. I appreciate very much all of the constructive input!!
