Yes I tried JB Weld on one of the 2 piece hinges on my short 39. It seemed like it was going to hold, until I was hanging the door. It didn't stay together. I got the hinge I needed from Tom Buckles.

You will need to put cripples on each side of the hinge if you are not going to weld it. Then put the JB weld on all of it, grind smooth before as heat will pull the JB weld apart. File and smooth.

Use the 3M product that body shops use to hold car door hinges on! Problem solved!
