I am in the market to buy a 1920s Mobil Gargoyle can with Japanese writing on it. I had one years ago and never should have sold it. If anyone has any leads or has one for sale, send me a message. Thanks! i'll post a photo.
Always looking for Texaco signs, cans, and any other old Texaco treasures!

Not trying to split hairs here, but I believe that can would have been out of China. I've sent your pic to a friend of mine who might be able to translate the characters. I'll follow up if he can. I'm attaching a photo of a 1937 map of China. Alan

I have seen early American oil cans in Tokyo but are super rare because of pre war relations and survivors are scarce .

Two sold on eBay at different times in the last couple of months, not that that’s a huge help. That map is really cool!

sorry, saw I had a typo in my translation! It should have said "Beware for counterfeits"
Map is really cool, isn't it? There was also a Texaco atlas of China or Shanghai that was put out in the early 30's. Extremely rare. My dad had one and traded it for (i believe) a Woco Pep map that is just as rare!

Absolutely. If you’ve got a pic of it, mapper, I’d love to see it.

Took me a while to find it! Not a great pic, but here it is.
I apologize if this is hijacking the thread.

Haha, I apologize for the hijacking, as well. That is a downright gorgeous map, mapper, thank you for taking the time to find it. New one for the WTB list 🙂
