I'm not a globe guy, and all of the globes I own now are 13 1/2" in glass bodies. Can someone let me know how high a 15" low profile metal globe body is? I'd like to put a 15" globe on one of my pumps but I do not have much room overhead. If it will fit, I will be in the market for one. Thanks! Brady

Brady,
You can take one of the steel low profile bodies and take almost another inch out of its height.
Carefully disassemble the base piece from the globe.
Trim as much as possible off the bottom of the base (about 3/8" if I remember correctly) and the flange at the bottom of the body itself (about 1/8" to 1/4"?).
Then reattach the base to the upper globe body pushing the base up as high as possible into the body before rewelding.
I believe you can shorten one of these by 7/8" at least.

...maybe on a repro - wouldn't be smart to cut down an original...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
