I've seen signs like this before that certainly appeared to be repo's to me.........so I'm guessing this one is also.

Definitely...REPOP!! Notice the pristine condition and the tiny mounting holes. A lot of the repops coming out of Australia and Europe are manufactured with these small holes. Makes it easy to detect them as fakes.

I believe this is a repro sign. Whenever they show up, they are as nice as this one.
What also strikes me is that he shape of the shield is NOT the one normally used by Mobil. This one is too rounded off in the corners.

However, I am sure that an original sign like this existed. In the transition period between the Gargoyle and Pegasus symbols, Vacuum oil first used a shield with a Gargoyle on top and a small Pegasus below the text ( ca 1946-47), and in 1948-49 it was a Pegasus on top and a Gargoyle below the text.
I hav seen reproductions of this sign as well, and it is a very good repro. The only thing wrong is that the text is black, and on the originals it is blue.
br,
Claes

Here's my original:

Also the last thing he says is that he will only take cash in registered mail. I cant belive he thinks he can pass this sign off as a real one.

Thanks for the help guys

Jim, it is the only one I've ever seen in person, and the only one so far I've seen for sale here in Sweden.

On ebay, I've seen a couple that appeared to be from Belgium - had "Vacuum oil S.A.B."

...maybe if I find a better one...
