im trying to research the correct items for my Model Sunoco Station. i am building a late 40s early 50s era station, and have been trying to figure what items are correct to that era. can you folks tell me if i have the correct products? i am almost sure the blue with yellow stripe can is that era, but i have noticed alot of products like the Brake fluid that have the cloud on the can. are these from that era?

The blue yellow stripe can a repop fake. Throw it away.
This posting has caused me to do a little research of my own that I've wanted to do. And I was surprised by what I found in a way. I'll post a couple different times. So one thing I can tell you for sure is what I know about the logo.
Note how the yellow in the diamond goes out around the S and the O, this happened right around 1961-62. Notice difference in this picture. The can on the left is pre 1962, The one of the right is post 1962

Now items with this style logo are most certainly 1940's This brochure is dated 1947 on the back.

Now I was always under the thought that the light blue cloud items replaced the dark blue cloud items. But this through me for a loop on that. Notice the box on the left, although dark blue, has the post 1961 bumped out out diamond logo. So more research to do on that!!

As for oil cans, this rack sign is dated 1946 as are all the cans in it. They are copy right dated in black lettering, 1946. Cans like your repop with the white borders completely surrounding the lettering will be copyright dated in white lettering 1956
I'm no expert on copyright dating but it seems to go in 10 year increments. You will find Sunoco oil cans date 1936,1946 and 1956

thank you .i thought the oil can might not be original because if i remember the original had stripes in the yellow bands like the one below. as for the "cloud cans" except the antifreeze i actually have the right ones for pre 62 so thats good. i am still searching the boards for pictures of hoses, belts and a battery from pre 62 era.

If you want to do 40's, your break fluid can is the correct one but these tend to run about 20-30% more in cost on ebay. Depending on condition. For the 50's, you would want the light blue with the no bump out logo. Good luck!! Post pictures when you get it all together. Are you actually doing a free standing building?

Are you actually doing a free standing building? freestanding yes, full size no. the finished building will be a 3 ft by 3ft , will be fully detailed including a pump truck and will be a fully lit replica. i will be recreating all these item in scale.i just finished the 3d design and prints for the building itself
