Has anybody removed dents from a porcelain sign successfully? Also, should old touch up paint be removed, or leave it?

You can try Nate...the risk is, every time you flex the metal, you take a risk of chipping more porcelain and damaging the sign. Unless the damage is really bad I would leave it alone. Regarding touch ups, that's up to you. If you like the touched-up areas better that way, leave them. I personally prefer not to buy touched-up signs as the touch ups are usually not very well done. If you don't like them, you can use paint stripper to remove the touch ups without damaging the porcelain.

depends on what kind of dent - a bullet dent, you would drill a hole in the center of the dent
too relieve pressure then use a C clamp too press the metal flat

(you try using a hammer you have porcelain flying all over the place and you made it worse)

then braise the hole or fill it then touch it up - your touch up has too be dead on (color) or don't bother

as far as old touch up if you think you can do a better job re-do it .. ... cool

Using 2 by 4s or other flat wood with C clamps has produced the best results for me. You can gauge the pressure as you go slowly knowing when to stop or clamp a little tighter. But everyone is right. You will loose some porcelain in the process.
